The appearance of storyboards in event design has been anticipated for some time. Storyboarding has now become standard practice for businesses that focus on storytelling experiences. The technique has many advantages. It’s highly effective as it enables fast and easy creation and communication of ideas. With the launch of the Event StoryBoard canvas, these benefits have become available to event professionals. At The Red Line Project we have been applying storyboarding since 2011.
We believe that memorable events always tell a story. When designing events, we step into the shoes of the visitors and co-create the customer journey storyboard with our clients, The visual result becomes the blueprint of the event. To us storyboarding is second nature. Our clients love this approach.
We felt a need to share these advantages with the event industry. I asked my colleaque, Tim Corporaal, to work with me on the canvas, After analysing our own design process we translated it into a dedicated tool. Knowing a canvas can be very complex, we focused the design on ease of use and speed. To see if others shared our vision we organized test workshops with international event professionals.
Each time participants were amazed at how fast they created unique customer journeys. They immediately saw the benefits for themselves and their clients. At the Fresh Conference we organised a pre-launch workshop.Their enthusiastic feedback convinced us that this is something the event world is ready for. Everything felt right for the global at IBTM World!”
I believe that the ESB can change a lot of events for the better. So we decided that something with this potential should be available to everyone. For this reason we have decided to make the canvas free to use, even commercially!
We will be providing various in-depth workshops that teach you how to design storytelling events and apply the Event StoryBoard canvas. We also provide unique ESB certifications. Sign on for your own free copy. Happy Designing.
